The second of the Blender pieces, and the one that is entirely about material. Store-front installations again, but this time florists’ windows, and two substances doing all the work: a blue veined marble and a gold that has not finished pouring.
The trick the picture runs on is that both materials are wrong for the object. Lilies are not stone. Vases do not drip. So the arrangement reads as an arrangement for about a second before you notice nothing in it could actually stand up, and by then the thing has already worked as a still-life.
The title sits behind the flowers rather than over them, in a serif that has nothing to do with the rest of the image. Letting the subject occlude its own label is what keeps the type from becoming a caption.
